I live in California, and I am one of the many people out of a real job.
They make it harder and harder every year to collect the hard earned money you make, that you have put into unemployment already. I remember when I first applied for unemployment 10 years ago. It had at least 5 or more, less questions to answer and you didn't have to log into cal jobs to continue your payments.
Now you have over 5 extra questions you must answer right or you don't get your benefits, plus if you can't contact them online, their phone system is a complete nightmare.
Even if you call the 800 number for English, they still ask "Para Espanol, empujar numero dose".
Now they even have 3 levels of not being able to connect on the phone.
1. We are experiencing more than usual call (they will tell you "Good Bie" at the end of a long info speech.)
2. Welcome to the EDD unemployment center (yada yada speech and then "all customer support is currently busy with other claims" Then a "Good Bie" after that speech is over)
3. Welcome (Ditto #2) Then "Please select your option for unemployment benefits" (after long selection process) "We are sorry, but all customer support is currently busy" followed by the "Good Bie".
I just re filed my claim again since they don't contact me when I contact them via Email, and they are too busy on the phone. That should make their life suck to have to re do my paperwork again for my claim.
This is our money! Why do we have such a hard time getting the money we already fund into the unemployment insurance?
Plus their system is horrifically out dated and primitive. The government need to give EDD an enema.
